House Cleaning Costs in Cambridge (2026)
Real 2026 planning ranges for house cleaning in Cambridge β and an honest explanation of why the same bedroom count costs different amounts in West Galt and east Galt.
Nobody can price a house over the phone from a bedroom count, and any quote given that way is either padded or about to change. What follows are the ranges actually seen in Cambridge in 2026 for a typical house. Your number comes after a walkthrough, in writing, before anyone starts.
Typical Cambridge planning ranges

|---|---|---|
| Recurring clean β weekly | $130β$220 | 2β3 bed; lowest per-visit cost because nothing gets far behind |

| Recurring clean β monthly | $200β$340 | More work per visit; suits smaller or tidier households |

What actually moves the number
The age of the house, not the square footage. This is the biggest single factor in Cambridge and the one most quotes ignore. A century home in West Galt or Preston has deep baseboards, wide casings with dust ledges on top, picture rails, transom windows, cast-iron radiators and a staircase with spindles that has to be done by hand. None of that exists in a 2019 build. Two houses with the same three bedrooms can differ by well over an hour a visit.
Floors. Original hardwood is damp-mopped carefully by hand method rather than run over with a machine. More rooms with different floor types means more setup, not less.
Basements. A finished basement adds rooms. A stone or rubble-wall cellar under an old Galt house adds ongoing grit and a conversation about what "clean" realistically means down there.
Bathrooms. Bathroom count moves a quote more than bedroom count does. Hard water in this region means descaling on glass, taps and shower heads is real work, not a wipe.
Pets and people. Two indoor dogs and three kids is a different house from a retired couple, at identical square footage. It's counted honestly rather than discovered on visit three.
Condition at the start. If it's been a while, the first visit is a deep clean and it's said up front. That's a one-time cost, not the recurring rate.
Frequency. Weekly costs the least per visit and the most per month. Monthly is the reverse. Biweekly is where most Cambridge households land.
What's always included
- A walkthrough and a written scope before the first visit
- All supplies, products and equipment
- Insured cleaners
- A call before anything outside the scope is added
- Product substitutions on request β fragrance-free, low-VOC, or a specific finish-safe product for old floors and stone
What isn't included
Exterior windows above the ground floor, carpet steam extraction, duct cleaning, mould remediation, lead or asbestos abatement, and hoarding or biohazard cleanup are all separate trades. You'll be told which one you need rather than sold an approximation of it.
Frequently asked questions
Why won't you quote over the phone?
Because a quote given without seeing the house is a guess, and guesses get corrected upward later. A walkthrough takes fifteen minutes and the number that comes out of it is the number.
Is it cheaper per visit if I book weekly?
Yes, per visit β the house never gets far behind so each clean is shorter. Monthly costs the most per visit because there's more to do each time. Which is cheaper overall depends entirely on your household.
Do you charge by the hour or by the job?
By the job, off a written scope. Hourly means you're paying for someone else's pace, and it makes the invoice unpredictable.
Is HST extra?
Yes β all ranges on this page are before HST.
Do I tip?
Never expected. If you want to, it's welcome, but it's not built into the pricing and nobody will bring it up.
