The point of a recurring clean is that the house never gets far enough behind to need rescuing. Same scope, same cleaner, on a schedule that fits how your household actually runs.
Most Cambridge households land on biweekly. Weekly makes sense with young kids, indoor pets, a home office that's actually used, or a large century home where the dust load is genuinely higher. What a standard visit covers

- Bathrooms: tub, shower and glass, tile, toilet in full, sink and vanity, mirrors, fixtures polished, floor washed by hand around the base of the toilet
- Bedrooms and living space: dusting of all reachable surfaces including sills and ledges, mirrors and glass, beds made or linens changed if left out, floors vacuumed and washed
- Throughout: light switches and door handles, visible cobwebs, stair treads, entry mats, bins emptied and relined
What's on rotation
A few things don't need doing every visit but do need doing. Those go on a stated rotation so they actually happen instead of being forgotten: baseboards and trim, interior window glass and tracks, radiator fins in the older houses, door frames and casings, inside the fridge, inside the oven, light fixtures and ceiling fans, and the closet and pantry floors. You'll know which visit each falls on.
Scheduling around shifts
With Toyota's plants and Cambridge Memorial Hospital both major employers here, a fixed Tuesday-at-nine slot doesn't work for a lot of households. Cleans can be booked against a shift rotation instead, and specific rooms flagged as quiet — skipped entirely, or left until the end of the visit. Access is by lockbox, keypad or key so nobody has to get out of bed.
The first visit
If the house hasn't had a professional clean recently, the first visit is usually booked as a deep clean and the recurring schedule starts after that. Otherwise the first recurring visit runs long, costs more than every visit after it, and the whole thing starts on a bad note. In a century home with radiators and heavy trim, that first deep clean isn't optional — it's where a year or two of accumulated dust comes off the trim, the tops of the casings and the fins.
Pets, allergies and products
Pet hair is expected and factored into the time, not treated as a surprise. Fragrance-free and low-VOC products are available on request for allergy or asthma households, or where there's a newborn in the house.

Do I get the same cleaner every time?
That's the goal and it's what happens on most routes — someone who already knows your house works faster and misses less. Vacation and illness coverage happens occasionally, and in that case whoever covers works from your written scope and any notes on the file.
How long does a recurring visit take?

Can I skip a visit or pause for a month?
Yes. Give as much notice as you can — a couple of days is fine, same-morning cancellations are harder because the slot is already staffed.
